How a name gets here

Four steps, and a decision at each.

No bulk buying and no automatic renewals. At this size everything is done by hand, which is the point.

  1. A reason comes first

    The name is looked for because something of mine already needs it, not bought on the chance that it might be useful later.

  2. I read the register first

    The public record is checked before anything is filed. A name shown as free is free at that second and no longer.

  3. The entry goes in

    It is filed with Nominet under tag VELOXIS, with me recorded as the registrant, for 1 year.

  4. Renewed, or let go

    Before the expiry date I look at the name again. Either it earns another term or it lapses and goes back to the registry. Should Nominet fail to confirm my name and address from its own records it writes to me for proof, and ignoring that letter for 30 days suspends the name.
